As the 2025 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) nearing the end of league stage, the focus is on two teams — Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have already qualified to the play-offs, while other teams including defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are out of the contention.
After playing 12 matches each, Hardik-led MI is slightly ahead of Axar Patel’s Delhi with 14 and 15 points respectively.
Mumbai’s chances:
In their remaining two games, the five-time champion side will face Delhi and Punjab. A win from one of the matches would cement their place in the play-offs.
Facing DC at home on Wednesday, Mumbai has the best chance to end the dilemma. If they secure a win in that match they are qualified without having to wait for other scenarios. But if they lose that match, they have to hope that PBKS will outpower DC in their encounter and then win against Delhi in their final league match.
If Mumbai Wins both matches they have a chance to secure a place in the top two as well.
Delhi’s chances:
In their remaining two matches, Delhi would be facing MI and Punjab Kings. They have to win two matches.
If Delhi loses their Wednesday’s fixture with Mumbai,it’s game over. If they win that match, they still have to win over PBKS. If they win against Mumbai and lose to Punjab, their qualification depends on the outcome of MI vs PBKS match.
