Hyderabad: Ahead of the Sankranti festival, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar Sunday issued a safety advisory urging Hyderabad residents travelling to their native places to inform their nearest police station or beat officer before leaving their homes locked for several days.Highlighting that many houses remain unattended during the festive season, Sajjanar said police personnel would keep a watch on such houses as part of regular patrols to prevent thefts. He also strongly advised citizens not to leave cash, gold, or other valuables at home while travelling, recommending the use of bank lockers or other secure arrangements instead.“Modern policing is not only about responding to crimes, but about preventing them,” Sajjanar said, stressing that simple precautions and public cooperation can ensure a safe and peaceful festival.
