Gopalganj: A wedding meant for love turned nightmarish as chaos erupted. In Gopalganj’s Sadhuchak locality, under Nagar police limits, the groom, son of Surendra Sharma from Dighwa Dubouli, was abducted from the mandap early Saturday. The bride and her family were allegedly assaulted by a group of dancers, who also looted jewellery and valuables.The incident occurred Friday night during a “Launda Naach” performance, where men dance in female attire. Around 2 am, an argument between the performers and the groom’s party escalated. The dance troupe attacked the bride’s home, injuring the bride, her mother, and guests. The assailants dragged the groom from the stage, beat him, and fled with him in a vehicle.Police arrived but found no suspects. The bride’s family filed a complaint, prompting a multi-district manhunt with Baroli and Siwan police. SDPO Pranjal Tripathi said the case is a priority, with teams expecting a breakthrough soon.Sadhuchak remains tense, the wedding’s joy replaced by grief. Locals are outraged at the attackers’ audacity and question security at social events.
