NALGONDA: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday said the state government was strengthening government hospitals to provide modern healthcare services to the poor on par with those available to the rich. Inaugurating a laparoscopic unit at the Government General Hospital (GGH), Nalgonda, donated by the Komatireddy Pratheek Foundation at a cost of ₹1 crore, Venkat Reddy recalled his long-standing efforts to improve government hospitals in Nalgonda. He assured that more medical services will soon be launched at GGH. He expressed confidence that the new laparoscopic facility would benefit patients. Later, along with renowned gastroenterologist Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy, the minister interacted with students of the Government Medical College, Nalgonda, during a session held in the college meeting hall. Venkat Reddy noted that the construction of the new medical college building was completed within a year of the Congress assuming power in the state. Earlier, the college was functioning in the old district hospital building with inadequate facilities. He also promised to donate a bus, through the Komatireddy Pratheek Foundation (established in memory of his late son), for transporting students between the medical college and the Government General Hospital. Dr Nageshwar Reddy announced that students of the Government Medical College, Nalgonda, would be offered internship opportunities at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG). Sharing his “success mantra” of the 3-Hs and 3-Cs in the medical profession, he explained that doctors should embrace “Honesty, Humanity, and Hard Work,” along with “Compassion, Communication, and Commitment,” to achieve success in their careers.
