Hyderabad: A fire broke out in three shops at Shastripuram, Rajendranagar, around 11 pm on Saturday. No casualties were reported. The blaze started at an air-conditioner repair workshop near the S.A.R. Garden function hall and quickly spread to a chicken shop and an onion godown nearby. Alerted locals called the fire service, following which three fire tenders from Bahadurpura and Chandulal Biradari stations rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control within two hours. Officials suspect a short circuit triggered the fire. Further investigation is underway.Teens assaulted in Chandanagar Hyderabad: A 17-year-old student and his 14-year-old friend were allegedly assaulted by a group of youngsters near PJR Stadium in Chandanagar on Saturday evening.According to the victim’s complaint, the duo had gone for running practice at the stadium and were standing outside after completing their routine when three people confronted them. “One of them, who identified himself as Karthik, asked where we were from. When I replied that I had come from Gachibowli stadium, he began abusing me,” the victim stated in his complaint. Soon, more people joined, and about eight youths surrounded the teenagers. The complainant said they were beaten, and he suffered a head injury after being struck, while his friend suffered wounds on his face after being pushed to the ground. During the scuffle, the friend’s silver chain went missing. The victims alleged the attackers were in an inebriated state. Based on the complaint, Chandanagar police registered a case and launched an investigation. Worker killed in Yousufguda Hyderabad: A 35-year-old centering worker, Shaik Azmeer Pasha, died after being attacked by his friend on a pavement in Yousufguda, Madhuranagar police said on Saturday.Pasha had been living on the pavement with friends Raju and Prakash. On August 8, he objected to their late-night quarrel over a missing blanket. During the argument, Pasha struck Prakash on the leg with a stick. In retaliation, Prakash allegedly hit Pasha with a granite slab while he was asleep, causing severe head injuries. He later died during treatment. Police, who initially booked Prakash for attempted murder, altered the case to murder following Pasha’s death. Man booked for multiple marriages Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man was booked in Attapur after his wife, claiming to be his third spouse, accused him of concealing multiple marriages, assault and intimidation.The accused was identified as E.N. Ravi alias Rafi. In her complaint, the woman said she married him in 2017. Ravi, she alleged, initially posed as unmarried, hiding his two previous marriages. He also concealed his real age, claiming to be only four or five years older than her, while in fact, there was a 14-year gap. She said he did this by hiding his birth certificate from her. The woman further alleged that Ravi had a pattern of targeting women much younger than him, often students 14–18 years junior, and later blackmailed them using audio and video recordings. She also claimed he took away 20 tolas of gold given by her family and mortgaged it without her consent. In addition, she alleged that he converted from Hinduism to Islam to acquire land property registered in her name in Siddipet, later mortgaging it to raise loans from private financiers in her name. She said she was subjected to continuous physical assaults and death threats from him. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 85, 318(4), 316(2), 351(2) and 352 of the BNS. Attapur inspector K. Nageswara Rao said the case is being investigated. “We are, however, counselling them,” he added. BRS corporator and 10 others arrested for playing cards Hyderabad: A total of 11 persons, including BRS corporator Dodla Venkatesh Goud from Allwyn Colony and BRS MLC Naveen Rao’s father Kondal Rao, were apprehended for allegedly organising and participating in card games that involved the exchange of money, which amounts to gambling.The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Balanagar Zone raided a guesthouse in Vaishnavi Colony, Kukatpally. Acting on credible information, the teams carried out the raid at Plot No. 27 and seized `2.52 lakh in cash and 11 mobile phones valued at about Rs.1.1 lakh. The total property seized during the operation is estimated at `3.62 lakh. Police identified the organiser as Tulasi Rao Nayeneni, 58, a businessman residing in Kukatpally. The other accused include contractors, businessmen, and retired employees. Among those apprehended were Balarao Gannamaneni, 61, Anil Kumar Chintapatla, 59, Bhaskar Rao Ch., 62, Srinivas Rao Teegala, 55, Vadela Bhaskar, 60, Kalvakuntla Ranga Rao, 57, Avaduta Nageswara Rao, 61, and Murali Mohan Krishna Kumar, 79. Officials said the men had gathered at the guesthouse to play cards in violation of the Telangana Gaming Act. All those apprehended, along with the seized property, were handed over to Kukatpally police for further investigation.
