Escaped Attempt to Attack Me, Claims Sriganesh

Hyderabad: Cantonment MLA N. Sriganesh claimed that he had narrowly escaped a possible attack by a group of unidentified persons near RTC Hospital in Tarnaka on Sunday evening. The MLA, who was travelling in his official vehicle, reported that he was targeted by around 30 individuals who attempted to stop his convoy. In his statement to the police, Sriganesh said the group attempted to swarm his vehicle while it was moving with the siren on. “Some individuals signalled us to roll down the windows. I sensed something was wrong and instructed my driver to head straight to the OU police station,” he said.Sriganesh also alleged that the assailants tried to snatch weapons from his gunmen. However, speaking to the media, east zone DCP B. Bala Swamy clarified that initial inquiry did not support the claim of an assault.“The MLA’s vehicle reached the police station between 9.30 and 10 pm. As per our verification, the MLA’s convoy was obstructed by people on six bikes who did not give way when the driver honked the horn, leading to a verbal altercation. The group then headed towards Adikmet,” said the DCP.The DCP added that when police questioned the MLA’s gunmen, they denied any physical assault or attempted weapon snatching, though they did confirm a verbal argument took place. A complaint was lodged and police were verifying CCTV footage and other evidence to ascertain the facts.
