Drone Used To Save 3 Youths From Drowning In Sea At Vadarevu Beach

Vijayawada:A drone helped save the life of three youths from drowning in the sea at Vadarevu beach in Bapatla district on Friday.A large number of devotees arrived at the Vadarevu beach to mark a ritual to please the deity Ankalamma of Kolalapudi village on Marturu mandal.Police said three youths entered the sea to take a ceremonial dip. They walked a little deep into the sea and were carried away by the waves.The police managed to save them with the help of a drone.Several tourists from Hyderabad, Guntur and Vijayawada arrive at the beaches like Vadarevu, Suryalanka etc especially during the weekends and holidays. In view of this, the district police have come up with a multi-pronged strategy to deploy drones and install CCTV cameras with some having two-way communication facility at strategic locations along the beach.Cops have also set up a command and control room, deployed marine and civil police and master swimmers to monitor the movement of the visitors and ensure no illegal activities and untoward incidents occur there.On Friday, the police were closely monitoring the visuals along the beach. Chirala Rural SI Chandrasekhar who along with other police personnel on duty noticed the three youths getting washed away.In a jiffy, they took the help of the hovering drone and alerted the nearby police personnel and the master swimmers.The master swimmers immediately jumped into the sea and rescued the three youths. They were taken to the shores and the police gave them counselling vis-à-vis sea entry.Bapatla SP Tushar Dudi said, “We installed CCTV cameras and placed two to three drones for ready use here. In case of any trouble, our personnel will initiate necessary action. We have also installed two-way communication CCTV cameras as a pilot project along the beach. Our personnel can issue instructions and receive complaints from the people.”
