New Delhi: The Department of Posts has announced the suspension of booking and transmission of all categories of mail items destined for the United States except documents/letters and gift items valued up to USD 100 with effect from August 25, 2025.The decision follows recent regulatory changes introduced by the U.S. Administration under Executive Order, which comes into effect on August 29, 2025. U.S.-bound carriers have expressed their inability to transport postal shipments without a fully defined mechanism for duty collection and data exchange, as required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.The Department of Posts said it is closely monitoring the situation and making efforts to restore services at the earliest. Customers who have already booked items that could not be dispatched will be eligible for postage refunds.
