Delhi Municipal Officials Study Hyderabad's Lake Restoration Work

Hyderabad: Authorities from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) visited and inspected the recently restored Bathukamma Kunta lake at Amberpet on Wednesday. Accompanied by HYDRAA officials, the municipal staff from New Delhi took detailed development plans from the agency about lake restoration and rejuvenation.HYDRAA officials presented week-by-week progress of restoring the lake to the municipal authorities, and showed they transformed the lake from a barren land filled with trash and wild shrubs. MCD horticulture department head Dr Ashish said that the restoration of Bathukamma Kunta has come up for discussion at the national level. He further said that multiple lakes have been subjected to severe encroachment in Delhi, and an agency like HYDRAA would make reclaiming and restoring the lakes a lot easier. The authorities also inspected how the inlets have been constructed at the lake. They observed how rainwater moves through stormwater drains into the lake, and spoke to locals about how much flooding and waterlogging has reduced because of the lake.
