Defence Minister Rajnath Singh questions Pakistan's ability to handle nuclear weapons

SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday raised serious questions over the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, calling for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to place it under international monitoring.During his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir following Operation Sindoor, Singh addressed troops and asserted that the operation had sent a strong message to terror outfits and their backers in Pakistan: they are no longer beyond reach.”I want to ask the global community—are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of Pakistan, a rogue and irresponsible nation?” Singh said.He stressed the need for IAEA oversight of Pakistan’s nuclear stockpile to ensure global security. The IAEA is the world’s nuclear watchdog, responsible for promoting safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy. The Defence Minister is currently in Jammu and Kashmir to assess the overall security arrangement, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.(With inputs from PTI)
