Warangal: The Mills Colony police arrested 20th division corporator Gundati Narendar Kumar for allegedly attempting to assault a woman leader after luring her with a promise to give her a political opportunity in Kashibugga of Warangal on Sunday.According to the police, the women leader lodged a complaint alleging that Narendar tried to assault when she went to his house for a meeting. In an attempt to escape from the corporators, her blouse was torn.After escaping from Kumar’s house, the woman leader informed the police through the Dial 100 emergency service. The police took corporator Narendar into custody, registered a case and started an investigation.Sources that Narendar who got elected on a BRS ticket had recently joined the Congress and was reportedly working against endowment minister Konda Surekha. Narendar’s followers alleged that the arrest was a conspiracy.BJP leader Errabelli Pradeep Rao condemned the arrest of corporator Narendar and alleged that the arrest was carried out as a part of a political vendetta. He demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the corporator.
