Hyderabad: Fresh from receiving praise at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in New Delhi for conducting the caste census, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is working on a plan to organise a public meeting to celebrate the success of the government’s initiative, sources said on Sunday.The BJP-led NDA government has since announced that the decadal census would include a caste enumeration component. The Centre’s move is being seen as a success of the Congress.Party MPs and MLAs have been directed take the news of the Congress government’s achievement to the doorstep of the people in their constituencies, sources said.The Chief Minister is understood to have discussed the plan for the public meeting with the high command and invited them to attend the celebrations. He arrived in the city after the meeting.The Congress government has started groundwork for the meeting by inviting representatives of BC communities and social organisation representatives. Telangana is the first state to conduct a detailed caste census in a scientific manner by allocating funds and obtaining reports.Sources said that the public meeting was meant to boost the party cadre ahead of the local polls, and show the people that the government was accountable to them.Sources said that Revanth Reddy also asked MPs and MLAs to intensify activities in respective constituencies by interacting with the people. He also asked them to explain to the people the benefits of the government’s initiatives such as Bhu Bharati, free bus travel for women, Rs.500 subsidy per domestic gas cylinder, free power to eligible sections and waiving of crop loans of farmers and providing a bonus for sanna biyyam and fine rice supply.
