CM Orders Installation Of Alluri, Potti Sriramulu Statues In Amaravati

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to install statues of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju and Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu in Amaravati to honour their contributions and inspire future generations.He emphasised that eco-parks being developed across the capital region should be named meaningfully and reflect the heritage and values of the state. At the same time, he underscored the importance of maintaining financial prudence and avoiding unnecessary extravagance in new projects. Chandrababu Naidu made these observations at the 50th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). Presided over by the CM, the meeting cleared several key proposals, including infrastructure projects, for accelerated development of Amaravati. He told officials that permission for these projects must be given with delay Reminding officials about the record time within which the state secretariat had been constructed in the past, the Chief Minister wanted the same urgency and commitment from the officials while executing the new works. He directed officials to coordinate with the central government regarding construction of the airport in Amaravati. The CRDA meeting approved pooling of 20,494 acres of land across various villages in the capital region, including Vaikunthapuram, Pedamaddur, Yandrai and Karlapudilemalle villages in Amaravati mandal of Palnadu district, as well as Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram and Pedaparimi villages in Tullur mandal of Guntur district. Other approvals of CRDA include construction of four international-standard convention centres over 2.5 acres near upcoming five-star hotels in Amaravati, including Vivanta and Hilton hotels in Mandadam, Hyatt Regency in Thullur and Novotel in Lingayapalem. The authority has given permission to dredge and desilt sand from the Krishna River. Approximately 160 lakh cubic meters of sand will be required over the next two years for various infrastructure projects worth ₹49,040 crore in Amaravati. The CRDA approved Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for high-density residential zones and mixed-use development projects in the capital city. These projects will be developed over approximately 58 acres within the Finance and Sports cities in Mandadam, Rayapudi and Pichukalapalem. The authority approved land allocations of 2 acres each for the Central Bureau of Investigation, Zoological Survey of India, Income Tax Department, and AP Gramin Bank; 5 acres for the State Forensic Science Laboratory; 12 acres each for the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy and MSK Prasad International Cricket Academy; 0.495 acres for the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Bank Limited; 0.40 acres for the Central Bank of India; 0.50 acres each for the South Indian Bank and the Bureau of Immigration; 25 acres for KIMS Hospital and Medical College; 2 acres for the Bharatiya Janata Party office; and 4 acres for Basil Woods International. Significantly, Chandrababu Naidu wanted officials to serve notices on companies that fail to deliver on their construction commitments.
