Hyderabad: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday informed that Manoharabad-Kothapalli new line project was sanctioned on cost sharing basis with Telangana government, which has to provide land free of cost and share one third construction cost of the project. The total length of the project is 151 kms, out of which 76 kms length between Manoharabad-Siddipet has been completed. Work has been taken up in the balance section between Siddipet and Kothapalli. Out of total requirement of 1145.6 ha land for this project, 1049.5 ha land has been acquired and balance 96.1 ha land is yet to be acquired by Telangana government. An amount of Rs.416 crore out of Rs. 926.93 crore has been deposited by the State government. The balance amount to be deposited by Telangana government is Rs.511.20 crore. The execution of the project depends on timely acquisition of land for the project and deposition of share by Telangana government. The Union Minister said this while replying to a question raised by MP B. Parthasaradhi Reddy in Rajya Sabha on Friday on Manoharabad–Kothapalli and Bhadrachalam–Kovvur railway projects. He further stated that Bhadrachalam Kovvur new line project covering 119 km was sanctioned on 50 per cent cost sharing basis with Andhra Pradesh government at an anticipated cost of Rs.2155 crore. Bhadrachalam-Sathupalli new line project covering 56.25 km has already been completed in May 2022. The Andhra Pradesh government has been requested to re-affirm their consent for sharing the cost of the project. The completion of any railway project depends on various factors like quick land acquisition by State government, forest clearance by officials of Forest department, deposition of cost share by State government in cost sharing projects, priority of projects, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and topographical conditions of area, law and order situation in the area of project site, number of working months in a year for particular project site due to climatic conditions etc, he added.
