BJP Harps on Success of Operation Sindoor and Caste Census Move for Electoral Gains in Poll-Bound Bihar

New Delhi: The BJP looks to harp on the success of Operation Sindoor and the Centre’s caste census move for electoral gains in poll-bound Bihar. The saffron party, through various programmes, will be reaching out to the masses to highlight the Modi government’s resolute action in dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. The party is also planning to play up the BJP-led NDA government’s move to announce caste census to demonstrate the Centre’s commitment to social justice in the run-up to the year-end state Assembly polls.A BJP insider told this newspaper that the party campaign will focus and revolve around Operation Sindoor and Caste Census, along with the development and welfare initiatives of the NDA government in Bihar.Talking about Operation Sindoor, a Bihar BJP leader said, “The Prime Minister, while addressing a rally in Bihar on April 24, two days after the Pahalgam terror attack, had made it clear that the perpetrators of the attack will be served punishment beyond their imagination, and that has been fulfilled. Now, we will reach out to the people of the state to highlight the success of Operation Sindoor,” he said.In his first speech after the Pahalgam terror attack at a public meeting in Bihar’s Madhubani on April 24, Mr Modi had said that the killers of Pahalgam will be pursued “to the ends of the earth”, and every terrorist and their backers will be punished. In his April 24 address, the Prime Minister had said, “From the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers.”Calling the Modi government’s announcement of caste enumeration historic and a reflection of its commitment to social equality and the rights of every section of society, another Bihar BJP leader claimed that the announcement has destroyed the RJD and the Congress Mahagathbandhan’s central political plank.“We will tell the people how the Congress is doing politics over caste census and the way its successive governments have been opposing it. The caste was not included in any of the census operations conducted since Independence. We will explain in detail to the people about the Modi government’s commitment to address the critical issue,” he said. The BJP insiders said that the party is working out a plan to hold caste-specific meetings of the NDA leaders across the state. The saffron party and its allies are also expected to field more than three-fourths of their candidates from OBCs, EBCs, SCs and Maha Dalits in the upcoming state assembly polls. This comes as the NDA has done a caste mapping of poll-bound Bihar and has finalised the castes from which each candidate will be fielded for the 243 Assembly seats in the state. In a massive exercise spanning over several months, the BJP, using its in-house agencies, carried out a survey on all Assembly seats under the watch of its national leaders.
