Bhopal: The BJP leadership here has decided to adopt ‘wait and watch policy’ before taking a decision to initiate any action against two senior ministers in the Mohan Yadav cabinet over their controversial remarks on an Army officer and the Indian military respectively.Although the BJP leadership is believed to have decided not to take note of the purported remarks by deputy chief minister in the state government Jagdish Devda on the Indian military and allow the issue to fizzle out, the party has been left with no option but to wait for the decision of the supreme court before taking any action against state tribal welfare minister Vijay Shah. Mr. Shah’s ‘sister of terrorists’ remarks targeting Colonel Sofiya Qureshi has put him in a spot with the Madhya Pradesh high court ordering the police to file an FIR against him. The minister has moved the Supreme Court challenging the high court’s order. The hearing in the case in the apex court, scheduled to be held on Saturday, has been deferred to Monday. The SC’s decision in the case will decide the fate of Mr. Shah, sources said. “We will abide by the court decision”, chief minister Mohan Yadav has said amid demand by the Opposition Congress to remove Mr. Shah from the ministry following his controversial remarks. While Mr. Shah, a tribal, is six-time MLA of the party, Mr. Devda, a prominent dalit leader of the BJP, is an eight-time MLA. “The party leadership has decided to ignore the case of Mr. Devda since he has already disowned the statement that appeared in the media, attaching to him. But the party has been left with no option but to wait for SC’s decision to decide if Mr. Shah will be asked to resign or not”, a senior BJP functionary told this newspaper on Saturday. Mr. Devda had purportedly remarked that the country and the Army bow at the feet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet for ordering action against Pakistan to avenge the Pahalgam carnage in which 26 Hindu tourists were killed by terrorists while addressing a function in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh a couple of days ago. He has however clarified that he has never made such a statement. The party leadership is hesitant to take any action against the two ministers since one of them is a tribal leader and the other is a dalit, the BJP leader said. Mr. Shah has already offered a public apology for his remarks.
