CHANDIGARH: A devastating explosion at a firecracker manufacturing and packaging unit in Punjab’s Sri Muktsar Sahib claimed the lives of five migrant labourers and injured several others on Friday, according to police.The blast occurred in a two-storey factory situated along the Singhawali-Kotli road in the Sri Muktsar Sahib district.Lambi’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jaspal Singh, confirmed to PTI.At least 25 people sustained injuries in the blast. The force of the explosion caused the building to collapse, trapping multiple workers under the debris.Rescue efforts are ongoing, with local authorities, fire services, and disaster response teams on the scene working to locate and extract survivors.
