Kakinada: Social Welfare Minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said the Ambedkar Videshi Vidya Scheme will be restarted soon. This will enable students of downtrodden sections in AP to provide their higher education in foreign countries.The minister spoke after unveiling an Ambedkar statue at Palivela village in Kothapeta mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Sunday. He inaugurated the Secretariat Building and CC roads at Pedapadu village in Kothapeta mandal.Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said the TD government implemented the Foreign Education scheme from 2014 to 2019. Thereafter, the YSRC government that came to power backed away from the scheme. This led to many students belonging to downtrodden classes losing an opportunity to study abroad.For the benefit of such students, the present NDA alliance government led by the Telugu Desam has decided to restart the scheme. He pointed out that the state government has already recommenced its Baby Kits scheme.The minister announced that the government will install Ambedkar statues in all social welfare hostels. Secretariats will be rationalised to provide better services to the poor. He asserted that the alliance government is committed to the welfare of SCs and STs.Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said that though Ambedkar faced many insults and struggled during his life, he overcame all hurdles and became the messiah of the downtrodden sections in the country. He exhorted youth to utilise the various schemes introduced by the central and state governments and become self-reliant entrepreneurs.Those present included Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao, Amalapuram MLA Ayithabathula Ananda Rao and P. Gannavaram MLA Giddi Satyanarayana.
