Visakhapatnam:Andhra Pradesh is expected to witness continued rainfall over the next seven days, according to a forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated locations across both coastal regions and Rayalaseema.The IMD has predicted gusty winds of 40–50 kmph over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam, and 30–40 kmph over isolated parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema.The weather activity is attributed to a north–south trough extending from southeast Rajasthan to north Kerala, passing through Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Interior Karnataka. The system extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, with lower tropospheric southerly winds prevailing over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.On Wednesday, the highest rainfall was recorded at Raju Palem in YSR district (4.0 cm), followed by Racherla (3.88 cm), Parvathipuram (3.64 cm), Chilamathur in Sri Sathya Sai district (2.92 cm), Anakapalle (2.88 cm), Tuni (2.56 cm), Vizianagaram (2.42 cm), and Visakhapatnam (1.82 cm).The lowest rainfall was observed at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district (0.02 cm), while Gurramkonda in Annamayya district recorded the lowest in Rayalaseema at 0.04 cm.
