AP JAC to Agitate if NDA Government’s Promises Remain Unfulfilled

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh JAC, Amaravati, has expressed serious discontent over state government’s delay in resolving employees’ and pensioners’ long-pending demands. It has warned that failure to fulfil promises could lead to a widespread agitation. The state executive of the AP JAC met on Saturday at the Revenue Bhavan in Vijayawada under the chairmanship of Bopparaju Venkateswarlu. At the end of the meeting, JAC leaders passed unanimous resolutions asking the government to take immediate decisions on both financial and non-financial issues within the next three months. APJAC Amaravati chairman Venkateswarlu reminded the NDA coalition government that the assurances made before the elections by the coalition partners must be fulfilled. “Continuous delay in this regard is causing severe anguish among employees and pensioners. Several retired employees have passed away without receiving their pending dues, gratuity, leave encashment and arrears which, in some cases, amount to ₹15–25 lakh per pensioner,” Venkateswarlu pointed out. The key demands of JAC include interim relief in line with pre-poll assurances, immediate constitution of the 12th PRC Commission, release of the four pending DAs without further delay, settling arrears of the retired employees, including gratuity and leave encashment, regularisation of about 7,000 contract workers, extension of welfare schemes to outsourced staff, promotions and notional increments to village and ward secretariat employees on the basis of seniority, restoration of promotions for APSRTC employees stalled for six years, grant of ration cards to retired staff with pensions below ₹10,000, and two-year childcare leave for women employees on par with central staff.
