Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of a 25-year-old pregnant woman at the community health centre in Polavaram of Eluru district on Wednesday morning.According to a preliminary inquiry, it was found that the woman did not get timely medical attention from the duty doctor of the gynaecologist. The minister warned that initiate stern action would be taken against anyone found guilty of negligence in their duty.According to health authorities, the woman hailing from Kothapunkala village in Polavaram mandal arrived at the CHC in Polavaram on Tuesday night in an advanced stage of pregnancy with an expected date of delivery after 20 days. The doctors attended to her and gave her medical treatment. However, by Wednesday morning, her health condition turned critical and she fell unconscious and the hospital authorities tried to shift her to a higher-level health facility, but she breathed her last en route.In response, an inquiry team consisting of two gynaecologists has been constituted to find out the reasons leading to her death and any deviation in providing medical treatment to her.
