Hyderabad: Despite repeated claims that everything was okay within the BRS, there appears to be no end to angst within the party ranks, even as murmurs that all was not well within the top rung leadership refuse to die down. These signs appeared to have received a little more heft on Monday with party MLC K Kavitha saying that there appeared to be a concerted campaign to malign her, and her work for the party. The issue came up during an informal chat with reporters. Kavitha said she was being targeted without a shred of evidence, and despite her spending six months in prison. Kavitha made it clear that she would bide her time and respond appropriately to the smear campaign against here when the time was right. Kavitha said she expected that the BRS would stand by her and respond to the malicious campaign against her.The BRS MLC said she had been working hard for strengthening of the party, and had toured 47 Assembly constituencies. “All I have been reflecting on is what I saw and heard from the people. There is increasing support for the BRS among people and the campaign to malign me is not right,” she said.Kavitha’s comments on Monday come amidst murmurs within the party which refuse to die down that all is not well at the top – despite repeated rejections of the same by senior BRS leaders. Amidst those who have found themselves in this apparent battle of what is being seen by some in the party as cementing their support among party leaders and workers, have been BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao.Though these two leaders too have rejected all talk of any struggle within BRS as mere gossip and efforts by the party’s detractors to sow seeds of doubt and dissension in the party, Kavitha’s comments are being viewed as an indication that all might not be well, at least in the minds of the party workers, about how united the BRS is at this point of time.Even innocuous events, such as the one at an Erukala community event in Mulugu district on Monday in which traditional palm readers pointed out to Kavitha that BRS was heading back to power in the state, have gained the potential to take a life of their own – at least within the party ranks that have been looking at every little hint in a bid to determine where, or rather with which leader, they can tied their future to.
