Khammam Central Crime Station (CCS) circle inspector Bhukhya Raju Naik has been attached to the Director General of Police (DGP) office in Hyderabad after a case was registered against him following a woman’s complaint. Khammam Town‑II police booked Raju Naik under Sections 69 (sexual intercourse achieved through deceitful means) and 88 (voluntarily causing miscarriage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. According to the complaint, the woman had approached Khammam women police station in February 2026 to lodge a case against her husband over family disputes. Raju Naik, then circle inspector, allegedly took her mobile number, befriended her through calls and messages, and impregnated her on a false promise of marriage. She further alleged that he administered tablets to abort her pregnancy twice. After divorcing her husband, she pressed Naik to marry her, but he refused. Believing promises of substantial returns, he transferred money in multiple transactions. The app allegedly displayed fabricated profits of ₹6.83 lakh and later showed a balance of ₹2.83 crore after a so‑called rights issue investment. However, when he attempted to withdraw the amount, the fraudsters blocked access and demanded an additional ₹26 lakh. Realising he had been cheated, the victim approached the cybercrime police, who booked a case under relevant BNS sections and the IT Act. Matrimonial fraudster arrested Cyberabad cybercrime police apprehended a habitual matrimonial fraud offender who cheated women through fake profiles and spent the swindled money on online betting and casino activities in Goa. Cybercrime DCP T. Sai Manohar said the accused, Manda Venkata Kameshu of Undrajawaram in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, allegedly created fake accounts on multiple matrimonial platforms, especially those targeted at different caste groups, posing as a wealthy and well‑settled individual. Police said he targeted women seeking matrimonial alliances and gained their trust through WhatsApp calls, Instagram chats and emotional conversations. After establishing rapport, he allegedly deceived victims into transferring money and sharing sensitive banking information, including credit card details, OTPs and bank credentials, under various false pretexts. Investigators found that the accused diverted the cheated money towards online betting and casino activities in Goa. The DCP said the accused was involved in nearly 20 criminal cases registered across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh related to cheating and matrimonial fraud. Following investigation into a series of complaints, cybercrime police identified and apprehended him before producing him in court, where he was remanded in judicial custody. Cybercrime officials advised citizens to exercise caution while interacting with unknown persons on matrimonial and social media platforms. They warned against trusting profiles solely based on photographs, job claims or lavish lifestyle portrayals online, and urged the public not to share OTPs, bank details or financial information with strangers, stressing the need to verify identities before proceeding with matrimonial alliances. Man gets 33 years for assaulting minor The Suryapet First Additional District Judge, also in‑charge of the Special Pocso Act court, on Tuesday sentenced a man to 33 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl. According to a media release from the District SP’s office, a case was registered against Parapangi Alender at Penpahad police station under the Pocso Act. The parents of the minor girl had lodged a complaint in May 2019, alleging that Alender had assaulted their daughter. With the charges proved, the court awarded him 33 years of imprisonment. Vigil stepped up on cattle transport Police and staff of the animal husbandry and veterinary department have been deployed at six check‑posts in Nalgonda district to maintain round‑the‑clock surveillance on illegal transportation of cattle. District veterinary and animal husbandry officer Dr G.V. Ramesh inspected the inter‑district check‑posts at Alagadapapa and Wadapalli. Speaking on the occasion, he said surveillance was being intensified on all routes and at check‑posts across the district to curb illegal livestock transport during the Bakrid festival. Maheshwaram DCP Narayana Reddy said that the accused was arrested and sent to remand.According to police, the accused and the victim were studying in the third year at the same private engineering college under Ibrahimpatnam police limits, and reportedly knew each each other for some time. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.DCP Narayan Reddy said that on May 15, the accused allegedly convinced the victim to accompany him to Dilsukhnagar for tea, and picked her up from the hostel on a bike. After spending time there, the accused allegedly purchased alcohol from a liquor shop while returning and took her towards the BDL road area.At a secluded location, he forced the student to consume alcohol. The accused, Bangi Raju, fled on her two-wheeler, Gandhinagar station house officer Bose Kiran said. The victim, Deborah, died on the spot. On hearing screams of the victims, locals tried to catch Raju but he managed to push them away and escaped via the staircase, police said. Police said Raju, an autorickshaw driver, had married Deborah 10 years ago. The couple had two children. “There were frequent quarrels between the couple after Deborah joined the spa as a beautician two years ago,” police said and added that he suspected her fidelity. Police booked a case of murder against Rajy, inspected the crime scene and recorded the statement of eyewitnesses. Case Booked Against Rangareddy Temple Executive Officer Over Alleged Animal Sacrifices Kadthal police have registered a case against the executive officer of Sri Maisamma Shivalaya Ramalaya Temple in Mysigandi of Rangareddy district after an animal welfare activist alleged that goats and chickens were being sacrificed regularly on the temple premises under a token system. The case was booked after Adulapuram Goutham, cruelty prevention manager with the Stray Animal Foundation of India (SAFI), an NGO, submitted a written complaint to the police. He alleged that hundreds of animals were being sacrificed every week at the temple in Kadthal mandal and that visitors were carrying out the killings in front of the shrine. Police registered the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Telangana State Animals and Birds Sacrifices Prohibition Act. Goutham told Deccan Chronicle that he visited the temple on May 14 and witnessed the sacrifices firsthand. “It was extremely disturbing. The animals suffer a painful death during the sacrifice.” He alleged that tokens were being issued for sacrifices. “People visiting the temple were sacrificing goats and chickens in front of the premises. Tokens were being issued for each sacrifice,” he claimed, adding, visitors paid different amounts for tokens before carrying out the act inside the temple premises. “There is an executive officer appointed from the government side. That is why I named the executive officer in the complaint,” he said. “I had also sought action against the temple committee members, but the FIR was registered only against the executive officer.” Police said the case was registered after a preliminary enquiry and investigation has been entrusted to a sub-inspector. Goutham said the practice was allegedly continuing for years and came to his notice recently. “People believe that sacrificing animals will please the goddess and fulfil their wishes. It is largely driven by superstition.” This is the second such case filed by Goutham this month. Earlier, Shamirpet police registered an FIR over alleged animal sacrifices at Katta Maisamma Temple in Shamirpet after Goutham complained that a goat’s neck was “brutally cut” and that sacrifices were being facilitated through token issuance there as well. Malkajgiri DCP Ch Sridhar said the body of the victim was found inside the tank at her residence in Old Alwal on May 16. Following a complaint and suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s death, Alwal police registered a case and arrested the duo, Alwal police arrested the accused Rekha and Bonagiri Sai Kumar. The child’s mother, Rekha, had married a distant relative, Raju, in 2020. Marital disputes reportedly arose after the birth their daughter, following which the couple were living separately. Police said Rekha allegedly developed a close relationship with Sai Kumar, 20, residing near her house and planned to marry. Sai Kumar’s family opposed the marriage as Rekha was being married and had a child.About a week before the child’s murder, Rekha and Sai Kumar hatched a plan to eliminate the child, police alleged. They initially planned to push the girl into Alwal lake but dropped the idea due to crowds and the distance from home.According to investigators, acting on Sai Kumar’s suggestion, Rekha allegedly decided to kill the child inside the house when no one else was present. On the night of May 16, after ensuring her younger brother was away, Rekha took the child to the terrace under the pretext of playing and drowned her in the overhead water tank.Police said Rekha pretended that the child was missing. Her sister joined the search for the child, went upstairs to check and found the girl’s body in the tank. Police reportedly found CCTV footage which captured Rekha taking the child upstairs. During questioning, Rekha allegedly confessed to the crime, stating that pressure and instigation from Sai Kumar influenced her. Hyderabad: Auto Driver Gets 20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Sexually Assaulting Minor BoyJudge G. Uday Bhaskar Rao of the Special Sessions Court for Pocso Act cases, on Tuesday sentenced Abdul Rehman, 23-year-old autorickshaw driver to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy. The court also imposed a fine of ₹6,000 on Rahman and announced a compensation of ₹75,000 to the victim.The case dates back to October 29, 2019. The boy boarded Rehman’s autorickshaw to go to Ranigunj. The diverted the vehicle, stopped at another area, forcibly took the boy into a secluded area and committed the crime, according to Mahankali ACP Challa Sridhar. When the child resisted, Rehman assaulted him. Hearing the victim’s cries, alert passers-by rushed to the spot, rescued the boy, apprehended Rehman and handed him over to the police. The case came into light on Monday after the victim, counselled by her friends, approached the Jubilee Hills police. According to the police, the woman and her friend came in contact with the accused near Jubilee Hills Metro Rail station. Promising her a chance in movies, the accused reportedly took her to their room in Secunderabad and gangraped her, They kept her captive for two days and repeatedly raped her. On May 16, they booked a vehicle and allowed her to leave. When she reached her room, her friend noticed bite marks on the victim’s body and questioned her. When she narrated her ordeal, the friend advised her to approach the police. The victim who was in trauma initially refused to do so. After counselling, she went to the police station where her complaint was recorded in presence of women police personnel.“We have formed special teams. We will identify the culprits through CCTV cameras installed near the station. We suspect that there are more than three persons involved in the crime,” an officer said. Police booked a case of gang rape and illegal confinement, and sent the victim for medical examination. Hyderabad: 23-Year-Old UoH Student Found Dead in University Campus Lake A 23-year-old postgraduate student of the University of Hyderabad died by suicide at the university campus, with police recovering his body from Buffalo Lake after he was reported missing for over a day. According to the police, Mayank Kundu, a first-year MA Economics student from West Bengal, was missing since Monday morning. His roommates informed the hostel warden on Tuesday morning after they were unable to trace him. Following the alert, university authorities and security personnel checked his hostel room and found a purported suicide note detailing his plans. Acting on the information, university security staff alerted the police. A search operation was launched and the body was found in the lake. Gachibowli police reached the spot and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, which will be conducted on Wednesday. Police also informed the student’s family members. Preliminary inquiry suggested that Mayank was allegedly distressed after being questioned in connection with laptop theft incidents on the campus. He was previously suspected in a laptop theft case. He was questioned again in a recent theft case, which is believed to have upset him. Police sources said the suicide note also referred to financial difficulties and also that he was struggling with substance addiction. Gachibowli police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the death.
