PM Accuses Congress of Betrayal Not Only Its Leaders But Allies As Well

BENGALURU: Congress party, the main opposition party in Lok Sabha, came under severe criticism from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru on Sunday who termed his rival party of “betrayal” not only its leaders after assurance but even its allies. Referring to ties snapped between Congress its Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister said DMK was an ally of Congress for about 30-years and the “power hungry” Congress party “back stabbed” its long time ally-DMK after the power-shift in Tamil Nadu to find another (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by film star Joseph Vijay in power in Tamil Nadu) for want of power. At a function to mark the birthday of Ravishankar Guruji and inauguration of Dhayan Mandir at Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru, Narendra Modi said “There is not a single ally of the Congress which it had not been betrayed” and stated Congress party once won 400 and above seats in Lok Sabha but in the 3 previous Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party all put together struggled even to touch 100 seat mark. But, the “arrogance” of Congress party leaders is at its peak, the Prime Minister said and stated a “desperate” Congress party has no agenda left now other than using abusive language and blames the Constitution, democracy, democratic procedures and the Court for its electoral defeats. “Once elected, the Congress party does not retain power,” Modi said and attributed the reason for Congress party failing to retain power as an anti-incumbency factor. Soon after the Congress party forms a Government, anti-incumbency soon follows. Regarding Congress coming to power in Keralam, Modi said he has been observing the ecosystem of the Congress party and questioned the Congress party “Why don’t you form the government in Kearalam having majority?” He said, Congress party is struggling to find a leader to run the government in Keralam and stated “Let it the term be split into two-and-half years each formula or else 5 Chief Ministers serving for a year.” After assurance, Modi said, the Congress party “back stabs its own leaders” and stated “It happened in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan previously. It has been going on in Karnataka, the game of power-sharing and Keralam has joined now.” In Karnataka, the Prime Minister said “How long will the Chief Minister (Siddaramaiah) last is yet to be decided(Congress central leaders)?” and pointed out “Another (Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar) is waiting in the queue and “His fate hangs in balance at the moment.” In Karnataka, Modi said, instead of solving public grievances, the ruling Congress government spent more of its time in internal bickering and accused the Congress party of lacking” the word “governance” in its dictionary. Modi accused the Congress party of “lying” so are its 5-gurantees such as free travel for women in State owned buses, upto 200 units of free power supply to every household, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family and two others. With reference to the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, Modi said, “The government is struggling to pay salaries of government employees and farmers are forced to take drastic steps to end their lines in Congress ruled Telangana.” In comparison with his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Modi said “We have been in power at the Centre for 12 years and BJP and National Democratic Alliance are in power in more than 19 States” and attributed it “We are working with a mantra of development of States to development of nation.” For BJP, he said, the welfare of the nation assumes utmost importance and stated “It is a mere announcement but made possible in letter and spirits which resulted in about 25 crore people coming out of below poverty line.” “Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas” idea backed by good governance, Modi said, made voters keep on electing the BJP government in successive elections and voters have been given the opportunity to serve them again and again.
