Cops Claim Fatal Fall Of Woman From First Floor Of Krosuru Police Station



A woman aged 39 years died of a fall from the first floor of the Krosuru police station in Palnadu district as she “developed convulsions” on Tuesday night, the police claimed on Wednesday. According to the Krosuru police, constable Venkateswara Reddy and the deceased P. Renuka, 39, had a live-in relationship. Differences emerged between them and they separated. When the woman complained against the constable, he was placed under suspension for some time. The police called Venkateswara Reddy and Renuka for an inquiry to the police station. Police claimed, “In the course of the investigation, the woman was found to be weak. She did not have food in the morning. We arranged tiffin and a tablet for dizziness and gave these to her.” “Suddenly, she developed convulsions and fell down to the ground from the first flood of the police station. She was rushed to the local hospital at Sattenapalli and later shifted to AIIMS at Mangalagiri for a spine injury,” they said. Senior police officials said “an investigation is in progress.” Two smugglers held, `1 crore worth red sanders seized near Coimbatore The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force on Wednesday arrested two interstate smugglers from Tamil Nadu and seized 35 red sander logs worth around `1 crore at Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district. The arrests were made based on information extracted from an accused, NK Naser, who was arrested by the task force on Tuesday in connection with a red sanders smuggling case. Acting on the leads, task force personnel raided a shed near Mettupalayam and arrested Exodus Alexander of Nilgiri district and S Sekhar of Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu. The task force seized 35 red sanders logs and the vehicle used for transporting the wood. Officials estimated the value of the seized property at about `1 crore. Task force chief, SP Subba Rayudu, said, “We were conducting special operations in the Seshachalam reserve forests to curb red sanders smuggling. Special teams have been formed to identify and arrest other persons linked to the racket.” Prisoner convicted after escape from KGH ward Chief Judicial Magistrate M. Pradeep Kumar on Wednesday delivered a verdict in a case that has exposed the lapses in prisoner escort procedures. The court convicted Namala Nagaraju, a 35-year-old remand prisoner from NTR district, and sentenced him to one year’s rigorous imprisonment as also a fine of `6,000. According to senior assistant public prosecutor Mylapilli Adinarayana, Nagaraju was under judicial custody in connection with an attempt-to-murder case under Section 307 of the IPC. While receiving medical treatment in the Prisoners’ Ward at Rajendra Prasad block of King George Hospital, he managed escape on May 8, 2025. This happened when the escort staff briefly allowed prisoners to move for breakfast. Nagaraju fled the hospital premises. During the trial, the prosecution established Nagaraju’s guilt. Woman killed in Kurnool district as tractor rams into house A 45-year-old woman lost her life after a tractor rammed into her house at Polakallu village in C. Belagal mandal of Kurnool district on Tuesday evening. The woman, identified as Kaulutlamma, had been engaged in household work when the mishap occurred. According to police, one Pachara Suresh had been driving the tractor to park it near the residence of a local resident. However, Suresh lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off course and crash into the house of Kaulutlamma, causing her severe injuries. Neighbours immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital. But she succumbed to her injuries on the way. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s husband Krishna, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
