Suspected Suicide Of PDO In Rona Town Of Gadag District In Karnataka

Gadag : A 46-year-old Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) was found dead at his rented residence in Rona town of Gadag district in a suspected case of suicide, with police registering a case of unnatural death and launching an investigation. The deceased has been identified as Makhtum Hussain Karadigudda, a native of Dharwad, who was working as a PDO in Asuti and Kotabala. Police said the incident is believed to have occurred between the afternoon of April 28 and the morning of April 30 at the house where he was staying on rent in Srinagar locality. Hussain was suffering from health issues following a previous road accident in which he had sustained a serious leg injury and undergone surgery. He was also reportedly dealing with blood pressure and diabetes, and had been experiencing pain while carrying out his duties. A note recovered from his pocket, purportedly written by him, indicated emotional distress and referred to his ongoing health problems. In the note, he is said to have asked his wife to take care of their children and mentioned that his death be described as a natural one. However, the family has expressed suspicion over the circumstances of his death. In her complaint, his wife Asmabanu stated that while the handwriting appears to be that of her husband, she has doubts and has sought a thorough investigation. A case has been registered at the Rona Police Station under relevant provisions relating to unnatural death, and further investigation is in progress.
