Hyderabad: Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and Prof M. Kodandaram were sworn in as members of the Legislative Council in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Governor’s House in Hyderabad on Monday. The oath was administered in the chamber of Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy.Telangana IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash, MP Vem Narender Reddy, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, along with government whips, MLCs, and MLAs, were also present.Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla had earlier approved the long-pending MLC nominations of Mohd Azharuddin and Prof M. Kodandaram to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota, ending uncertainty over Azharuddin’s ministerial future. The Governor’s approval cleared the way for Azharuddin’s continuation in the Cabinet, just five days before the April 30 deadline for him to secure membership in either House of the legislature. Kodandaram had earlier been nominated to the Council on August 16, 2024, but had to forego the seat after the court order on August 13, 2025. This will be his second entry into the Council, while Azharuddin, a former MP from Uttar Pradesh, will enter the Telangana Legislative Council for the first time.Their term will be for a period of six years from the date of issue of the notification.
