Hyderabad: Animal Welfare Day was observed on Wednesday by the district animal husbandry department at Melkote Park in Narayanaguda as part of the Praja Palana — Pragathi Pranalika. Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad district collector D. Hari Chandana said the government was prioritising the welfare and protection of voiceless creatures. She added that 15,000 water bowls are being placed across the city for the animals.The district collector said that four multi-specialty hospitals are currently operational in the district to provide medical treatment to animals. She announced the launch of a campaign titled ‘Safe with Dogs’, to foster greater awareness within society regarding animals. She inspected the dog show and the veterinary hospital, and instructed medical officials to provide improved medical facilities for animals.
