Chennai: With just 3 days left for polling, Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu turned the focus of election campaign on Monday with several leaders lining up to seek votes for their candidates starting from chief minister and DMK president M K Stalin to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin to TVK president Vijay.Stalin started off quite early in the day, visiting places like the historic Anna Nagar Tower Park area and other constituencies like Maduravoyal and Virugambakkam. Seeing a ‘pro-incumbency wave’ in Chennai, he put out a message saying ‘We will show once again that Chennai means DMK.’ Canvassing votes for DMK candidates in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Egmore, Harbour, Royapuram, R K Nagar and Perambur constituencies, Stalin drew huge crowds of supporters as the it turned out to be a carnival, while deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was at Perambur constituency to seek votes for the DMK. In an indirect hit at Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam president Vijay, who is contesting from Perambur, Udhyanidhi raised the question as to what he had to do with Perambur. He said that the DMK candidate contesting against Vijay was a familiar person to the people of Perambur and sought votes in his favour. Stalin was joined on his campaign vehicle as it meandered through the streets of North Chennai by former Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal, who said that he and Stalin shared a common vision for education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Without the usual speeches that have of late turned fiery, Stalin covered the entire metropolis visiting the constituencies in the open jeep on the day that Vijay, too, chose to go for his roadshow in some places in Chennai. At K K Nagar and every place he visited, he drew a huge jostling crowd of admirers who came out to the roads and filled up bridges. Meanwhile Stalin addressed his band of about 75,000 BLAs (booth level agents of the DMK) through a video call. Assuring the agents of a DMK victory, he urged them not leave their posts at the polling booths on election day till everything was wound up and sealed.
