VIJAYAWADA: A special screening of the film on Dr B.R. Ambedkar has evoked strong emotions, with former Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari saying it moved her to tears on several occasions.What makes the film noteworthy is prominent political figures portraying key historical personalities. Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha essays the role of freedom fighter Durgabai Deshmukh. Nandigama MLA Soumya appears as Pritilata Waddedar, an associate of Bhagat Singh. Former minister Gollapalli Surya Rao takes on the role of Lala Lajpat Rai, Telugu Desam senior leader Varla Ramaiah portrays Dr. Ambedkar. The screening of the movie had been held on Tuesday at Tenali to mark the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Produced by Aluri Sundara Ramaiah and directed by Dileep Raja. Telugu Desam state executive secretary Kattera Suresh Kumar showcased the movie. Rajakumari said the film vividly portrays Ambedkar’s life and struggles and it made it difficult for her to hold back tears at several points. Suresh Kumar described Ambedkar as a visionary whose contributions have benefited all sections of the society. He requested people to reject attempts to confine Dr. Ambedkar to a single community. Director Dileep Raja thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, pointing out that the state government funded the project.
