Veteran producer C. Kalyan heaped praise on legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, describing her as a “woman with a golden heart” and a consummate professional. Recalling his experience of working with her for the Telugu film Chandamama, Kalyan said her song “Naalo Voohalaku Naalo Voosulaku” became a chartbuster in 2007. “She had immense respect for producers and was always warm and courteous. I still remember how she would greet us with apples whenever we met her at a recording studio in Mumbai,” he shared. Kalyan emphasized that young playback singers can learn valuable lessons from the veteran singer. “She never had demands or tantrums. She was disciplined and professional to the core—qualities that are missing in a few singers today,” he noted. Highlighting her contributions to Telugu cinema, he mentioned some of her memorable songs, including “Isaalakidee Ammammo Yemvedi” (Pavitra Bandham), “Vennela” (Iddaru), “Idhi Mouna Geetham” (Paalu Neellu), and “Bamchik Bamchik Bam” (Ardhangini), among others. When asked why Asha Bhosle sang fewer songs in Tollywood, Kalyan explained that logistical challenges played a role. “She is a gem of a singer, but recording required us to travel to Mumbai, which could have limited her opportunities here. Still, her talent is unmatched,” he added. Another producer, Prasanna Kumar, pointed out that the Telugu film industry has long been rich in female playback talent, citing legends like P. Susheela, S. Janaki, Jikki, Vani Jairam, and Bala Saraswati. “That is one of the reasons why greats like Asha Bhosle sang selective songs in Telugu,” he said, adding, “She excelled in melodies, fast-paced numbers, devotional songs, and duets. She was among the best in the business and has captivated music lovers for decades.”
