The suspect in the March 8, 2026, shooting of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s Beverly Hills, California, home was identified as Ivana Lisette Ortiz by police. Rihanna was inside the house, according to the Los Angeles Times. Fortunately, she was unharmed. The famous musicians, who share children RZA, Riot and Rocki together, have not spoken publicly about the incident, and as questions arise about the case, many are wondering why anyone would target the “Diamonds” hitmaker in the first place.

Who Is Ivana Lisette Ortiz?
Ortiz is a 35-year-old woman from Florida, according to multiple reports. She was taken into custody after the March 8, 2026 shooting near the Los Angeles home of Rihanna. Prosecutors say Ortiz faces 14 felony charges, including attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. If convicted, she could face life in prison. Her bail was initially set at $10.225 million before being reduced to about $1.875 million.
Authorities allege Ortiz fired around 10 rounds toward the Beverly Hills–area property from a white Tesla parked across the street before fleeing. Police later tracked the vehicle to a shopping center parking garage in Sherman Oaks, where she was arrested. Officers reportedly recovered a semiautomatic rifle described as an AR-15-style weapon, along with shell casings from the car.
Ortiz remains in custody on the reduced bail amount, and her arraignment is scheduled for March 25 as the case proceeds. Per ABC News, public records also indicate she has had prior legal issues in Florida, including incidents related to domestic violence, which investigators are reviewing as part of the ongoing case.
Does Ivana Lisette Ortiz Know Rihanna or A$AP Rocky?
It’s still unclear whether Ortiz had any personal relationship with Rihanna or A$AP Rocky. Authorities have not confirmed that the suspect directly knew the couple.
However, investigators are reviewing social media posts believed to belong to Ortiz that referenced Rihanna prior to the March 8 shooting. According to TMZ, one post from February 23, 2026, appeared to address the singer directly and read, “@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
Ortiz also reportedly mentioned Cardi B in another social media post, writing, “You can’t f**k with me, Cardi B. You’re supposedly busy right now. But you know who has the cutest outfit tonight? You know who’s the cutest tonight? I am. I’m the cutest tonight. You ain’t doing nothing to me. You ain’t messing with me tonight.”
Police say those posts are part of the ongoing investigation as authorities try to determine the suspect’s motive. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said investigators are still working to understand why Ortiz traveled to California before the alleged shooting.
“My understanding is the person drove here from Florida. How long they’ve been in the area … I don’t have that information,” McDonnell said. “They’re working on that. That would be part of the whole motive, why the person came out here. We haven’t established a motive, we do know, and are aware of, social media posts that had been made that they’re looking into further.”
