Govt Warns Action Against Strike By Its Employees

Chennai: As some trade union of government employees are gearing up to hold a felicitation for Chief Minister M K Stalin in appreciation for his efforts in addressing their grievances, introducing a pension scheme and also putting an end to the agitation by government employees, some unions have called for protests on February 3, Tuesday, and February 8.Taking note of the strike calls, State Chief Secretary N Muruganandam issued crack down orders on such protests by ‘unrecognized’ associations to top-level government officers and all district collectors on Monday. He wanted the Collectors to ensure that the employees did not participate in the strikes called by unrecognized unions of teachers and government employees. He also said that the ‘no work, no pay’ norm would be enforced and the absence of the striking employees and teachers would be treated as unauthorized absence and no leave would be sanctioned for them other than for medical emergencies.
