Security Guard Dies After Fall Into Lift Pit

HYDERABAD: A 49-year-old security guard, Adubala Srinivas, died after falling into an open lift pit at an under-construction site in Gachibowli on Friday afternoon. According to a complaint lodged by his 26-year-old son A. Satyanarayana, Srinivas had left for duty at around 10.30 am on Friday. When he did not return home by 9 pm, Satyanarayana went to the site in search of him. He found his father’s slippers in the cellar of the building and, on checking further, discovered his body lying inside the pit with bleeding injuries to the head and knees. Srinivas was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. “For now, it appears that Srinivas may have fallen accidentally. As construction was halted around lunchtime, the area was not cordoned off,” Gachibowli inspector K. Balaraju said. The body was later shifted to the Osmania mortuary for post-mortem examination and handed over to the family. Police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS and further investigation is underway.
