Hyderabad: India’s official entry ‘Homebound’ has advanced to the next round of voting in the Best International Feature Film category at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards, marking a major step forward in the country’s Oscar journey this year.‘Homebound’ joins fourteen other acclaimed films from around the world in the shortlist released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). The film’s progression into the second round boosts India’s hopes for a final nomination in one of the most prestigious Oscar categories.Among the other contenders are ‘Belén’ from Argentina, ‘The Secret Agent’ from Brazil, ‘It Was Just an Accident’ from France, ‘Sound of Falling’ from Germany, ‘Kokuho’ from Japan, and ‘No Other Choice’ from South Korea. The list also includes entries from Iraq, Jordan, Norway, Palestine, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Tunisia.The final Oscar nominations will be announced on Thursday, January 22, with the winners to be revealed at the ceremony later this year in Los Angeles.If ‘Homebound’ secures a nomination, it will join the ranks of iconic Indian entries that have previously earned international recognition at the Academy Awards.
