MEDAK: Annual Christmas celebrations were held at the historic Cathedral Church in Medak on Thursday, drawing devotees in large numbers. The century-old church was specially decorated for the festivities, which saw participation from Christians across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.Construction of the church began in 1914 and was completed in 1924. While the church management made elaborate arrangements, the district administration and police department ensured civic and security measures. Former MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao took part in the celebrations. Devotees had been arriving at the CSI Church over the past two days to offer prayers. Hotels and lodges in Medak reported full occupancy during the period. Traders from various places set up stalls within the church, while recreational facilities, including giant wheels, were also installed. The police maintained tight security throughout the celebrations. Christmas festivities were also held across Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Siddipet, Medak and Sangareddy districts.
