VB-GRAM-G Survey Begins from December 26

Nizamabad: The Vikas Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-GRAM-G) will begin a statewide field survey from December 26 to 31 to identify works and prepare plans for the 2026–27 financial year. The initiative aims to curb migration by creating employment opportunities in native villages.Field staff will visit villages across the State to finalise proposals with public participation, following which budgets will be released. Rural works will be taken up with the cooperation of local communities. The Centre has renamed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and revised its norms. Working days have been increased from 100 to 125. Employment must be provided within 15 days of application, failing which the State government must pay an allowance. The State’s share in funding has been raised from 10 per cent to 40 per cent. Under the revised scheme, a 60-day gap will be allowed during the peak crop season. New works for 2026–27 will be identified during the survey period. Gram Sabhas, held two months ago, will guide the finalisation of working days and projects, including forestry and road works. Women self-help groups will play a key role, and meetings will be held at Gramaikya Bhavans.
