ED raids AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj in hospital construction 'scam' case

Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raids in Hospital Construction Scam Case

The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at several premises linked to Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj in connection with an alleged hospital construction scam in Delhi. The raids took place at around a dozen locations in the national capital under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, who represents the Greater Kailash constituency, has held several key positions in the Delhi government, including Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and head of AAP’s Delhi unit. He previously served as Health Minister during the tenure in which the alleged scam occurred.

According to an official statement, a case has been registered against Bharadwaj and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. The case pertains to alleged large-scale corruption in health infrastructure projects sanctioned by the Delhi government. The projects in question include 24 hospital projects, comprising 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield developments, which were approved in the 2018-19 fiscal year at an estimated cost of ₹5,590 crore.

However, the projects have reportedly suffered significant delays and drastic cost escalations, raising serious concerns about financial mismanagement and embezzlement. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
