CM Naidu Plans More IIT-NEET Coaching Centres In AP This Year

Vijayawada:Congratulating students of social welfare residential educational institutions for achieving ranks in IIT, NIIT and NEET, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has announced an incentive of Rs 1 lakh to each such student.Naidu conducted a review on social welfare at the secretariat today, when he interacted with the SC-ST students who got admissions in IIT, NIIT and NEET. He advised them to work hard and scale new heights in their lives.The CM said officials must improve the facilities in social welfare hostels to encourage students. “There is no dearth of talent among students, and that as many as 55 students ecured ranks itself is proof of this.”Naidu asked the officials to strive to quadruple the number of rankers by next year. He advised the students to interact with the hostellers to encourage them.Notably, these students from social welfare educational institutions received coaching at the Dr BR Ambedkar IIT-NEET centres located in Chinnatekuru (Kurnool district), Kuntamukkala (NTR district) and Adavi Takkellapadu (Guntur district).Some 129 out of the 176 students who received coaching for the JEE Mains and Advanced examinations qualified. Of the 180 students who got coaching for the NEET examination, 143 qualified.Finally, 12 students were selected for admission to IITs, 30 for NITs and 13 for MBBS. Among the 55 top rankers, 20 were girls. Additionally, 14 students gained admission to BDS programmes and 19 are set to join GFTIs and central universities.Welcoming the achievement of social welfare students, the chief minister directed the officials to establish seven more IIT-NEET coaching centres this year, which would benefit 1,411 SC and ST students. He said the government was ready to spend necessary sums for the welfare of students from the underprivileged and weaker sections.At the end of the meeting, the CM handed over mementoes and cheques of `1 lakh each to all the 55 students and posed for photographs with them. He said it was heartening that students from humble backgrounds showcased such outstanding talent.Social welfare minister Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy and some officials were present.
