Rohit said, “It’s something for which you prepare because the game demands to be sustained for a long time. Especially in the Test format, you need to sustain yourself for five days. It’s very challenging, both mentally and physically.”
Rohit also shared his personal experience of playing cricket from a young age. He said, “When I started playing, it was all about having fun and enjoying the game. As I grew older, I started playing age-group cricket. I would learn from other players and coaches about the importance of preparation. At first, I didn’t understand the significance of preparation, but as I grew older, I realized that it gives you a kind of discipline that is essential for the game.”
Rohit’s experience is similar to that of many other cricketers who start playing cricket at a young age. He said, “It was the same for me when I started playing for Mumbai and later for India. My focus was on preparing well before the game. Once the game starts, everything depends on reaction, and you have to make the right decisions, whether it’s with the bat or the ball. Preparation takes a lot of time, and I believe that it’s not just essential for cricket, but for life in general.”
