Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Friday and sought an additional Rs 5,000 crore for Andhra Pradesh under the special assistance to states for capital investment (SASCI) scheme.Naidu sought the funds to take forward several developmental initiatives in Andhra Pradesh, mostly in state capital Amaravati. He stated that the state so far received Rs 2,010 crore under this scheme. In a memorandum, he also pleaded for necessary orders on the various proposals submitted by the state government, including a release of `250 crore under the single nodal agency (SNA Sparsh) incentive scheme for the 2024-25 fiscal. Welcoming the Purvodaya scheme announced by the Centre for the integrated development of the eastern states, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh too would benefit from this. He urged the Centre to finalise the modalities for implementing the scheme. Naidu engaged in discussions with the finance minister for less than an hour. Union ministers Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and TD MPs were present.
