Bihar CEO asks voters to file claims with Aadhaar after 65 lakh names deleted from draft rolls



The notice further stated that, “all such electors whose names are not included in the draft electoral roll may obtain information about their entry and the reasons thereof by using their EPIC number in the published list.”The CEO said that the details of names deleted during the first phase of SIR had been displayed at the offices of blocks, panchayats, municipal bodies and polling stations across the state. The aggrieved electors can visit respective offices, obtain forms and fill them with detailed information to add names to the voter list.He said that any person dissatisfied may file a claim along with a copy of their Aadhaar card. Electors’ claims will be accepted till September 1.Out of 7.89 crore voters in Bihar, 7.24 crore were enrolled in the first draft. Out of the 65 lakh names deleted from the list, 36 lakh were shown to have permanently moved somewhere, and 22 lakh were said to be dead.Meanwhile, the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, alleged that the present Chief Election Commissioner of India was giving excuses not better than the playschool-going children.“Even the playschool-going children could have given better excuses than the CEC. It seems he was saying in the press conference on Sunday what may have come from the PMO,” the RJD leader added.
