A total of 45,477 candidates, 87.51 per cent of those registered, appeared for the entrance test conducted by Osmania University from August 6 to 11.The examination covered 51 subjects across 44 postgraduate courses and four integrated programmes, excluding areas such as Arabic, Kannada, Marathi, Persian, Theatre Arts, Electronics and Sericulture. The convener of TPCPGET informed that objections should be submitted in the prescribed online format along with relevant documents. Each objection carries a fee of Rs.200, which will be refunded if found valid. The test determines admission into postgraduate courses across the state. Results will follow after scrutiny of objections. 4 people, 560 sheep rescued in floodsHyderabad: Telangana disaster response and fire services department rescued four people and about 560 sheep stranded in floodwaters at Chetlur village, Bichkunda mandal, Kamareddy district, on Monday. Officials said sudden heavy inflows into the Manjeera river caused flooding, trapping villagers and livestock. A distress call was received by the Madnoor Fire Station, following which teams from Nizamabad and Kamareddy, along with the SDRF 7th Battalion, were mobilised.District fire officers Sandhanna (Kamareddy) and T. Parameshwar (Nizamabad) supervised the operation. Supporting staff included seven members from Madnoor fire station, 14 SDRF (fire) personnel, 24 from the SDRF 7th Battalion and four from SFO Kamareddy. Three boats were used in the operation. After hours of coordinated effort, the teams evacuated the four villagers — Sai Gonda of Gunkalloor, Sai Gonda of Baswapur, Yadav Gonda of Gunkalloor and Chakali Sailu of Chiklur — and moved them to safety. Simultaneously, 560 sheep were rescued. Officials noted that if the animals had perished, their carcasses would have posed a serious environmental hazard. Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to submit a comprehensive report on T-Fiber works. The Chief Minister held a review meeting with the IT minister and senior officials at his residence.Revanth Reddy instructed that notices be issued to the contract companies that executed the T-Fiber works and sought a report on how the works were carried out. He said the companies’ workforce strength and work practices should also be reviewed. The Chief Minister ordered the preparation of a full-fledged action plan, noting that the programme aims to provide internet services to every village and every household. He emphasised that the plan must ensure better services for the people through T-Fiber. He further instructed officials to include in the report details of expenditure incurred so far, funds required to complete the works, sources of collection and the steps necessary for the programme’s success. Youth gets 20-yrs jail for rape of girl Warangal: A 23-year-old youth was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl, along with imposing a fine of `15,000 by the First Additional District and Sessions Court Judge B. Aparnadevi after hearing arguments from both sides here in Hanamkonda on Monday.According to the police, the victim, a resident of Chinnathanda in Mahabubabad district, used to sell roasted corn cobs in the Kazipet Diesel Colony area. The accused, Vankudu Chandrudu, from Annaram Thanda of Parvathagiri mandal developed a friendship with the girl, who was in seventh grade and often helped her mother. On the night of December 15, 2022, the accused called the girl around 11.45 pm, took her out, and raped her. When the victim’s mother began searching for her, Chandrudu dropped the girl off on the road and threatened to make their photos public if she spoke about the incident. With her mother’s support, the victim later filed a complaint with Kazipet police. Inspector G. Mahendar Reddy registered the case and filed a charge sheet in court. Current inspector Y. Sudhakar Reddy, court constables Y. Sudhakar and court liaison officer ASI Parameshwari presented 15 witnesses. Public Prosecutor B. Malla Reddy argued for the prosecution, after which the judge pronounced the sentence.
