Hyderabad: Seven persons from were booked under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) for allegedly smoking at a farmhouse in Gandiguda in Shamshabad police station limits.According to Shamshabad police, head constable P. Lingamuthy received information that a group of people were smoking hookah at MRG Farmhouse. Acting on a tip-off, a police team rushed to the spot and found seven men identified as Md. Dasthagir, S.K. Asad, Arbaz Shareef, Syed Arbaz, Md. Amir, Md. Rehan, and Md. Faraz were partying at the location. The police conducted a raid in which the officers seized hookah-smoking apparatus, one scooter, and five mobile phones from their possession. Shamshabad Inspector K. Narender Reddy stated that a case under COTPA provisions has been registered and further investigation is underway. The police have reminded the public that smoking hookah without permission, especially in public or commercial settings, is a punishable offence and warned that strict action would be taken against violators.
