Telangana Won’t Compromise on Krishna, Godavari Waters: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana will not compromise in achieving the judicious share of water from the river Godavari and Krishna. To compensate for the loss caused by the negligence of the past rulers, the State government will work with a strategic plan in achieving permanent rights in the utilisation of water, said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Friday. Speaking after unfurling the national flag during Independence Day celebrations organized at the historic Golconda Fort, he said the State government was completing pending projects with proper plans to provide irrigation water to the last ayacut of Telangana. The State government envisaged a master plan for the development of Telangana. Starting from the revival of river Musi to the agricultural development of rural Telangana, the vision is clear. This document promises a happy life for the people of Hyderabad and Telangana with peace, tranquility, and a clean environment. This vision document announces the ideas, innovations, and implementation methods behind several proposed projects that are crucial in enhancing the brand image of Hyderabad. This vision unveils the determination to transform Hyderabad, which is being affected by floods, into a clean and beautiful city, he explained. Revanth Reddy said the vision document promises a permanent solution to Hyderabad’s flooding problem with the Musi Rejuvenation Project. The document also reveals how India’s Future City, built to international standards, will be a gateway to the modern world. “In Telangana Rising – 2047, we clearly explain how the highly ambitious Regional Ring Road is going to play a vital role in the development of Telangana,” he said. According to him, TelanganaRising – 2047 is a plan to radically transform the image of Telangana with the construction of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, second phase Metro Rail, radial roads between the Outer and Regional Ring Roads, Warangal and Adilabad airports, Hyderabad-Nagpur, Hyderabad-Bangalore, and Hyderabad-Vijayawada industrial corridors. “Our goal is to implement this resolution and make Telangana a key player in the country’s progress by 2047,” he said. In the previous government, people were not serious about the encroachment of lands, ponds and canals due to lack of a credible system. Today, the HYDRAA instilled confidence. A special police station was also set up under its jurisdiction. So far, it protected 13 parks and 20 lakes from encroachments. Amberpet Bathukamma Kunta has been restored. It protected government lands worth Rs 30,000 crores. Today, the common people are praising it, he said. The Chief Minister further stated that the opposition parties were using HYDRAA as a weapon for political gains. “My appeal to people to think and compare the past with the current situation when Hyderabad received heavy rains. It is doing wonderful service in resolving traffic problems and diverting flood water within an hour or two during heavy rains. It is also working effectively in taking action against illegal constructions and restoring ponds,” he said. Hyderabad is recognizing the importance and requirements of HYDRAA services. The opposition parties attempt to derive political advantages by showing it in bad light is unwarranted. Leaders who want the city to remain a water pool and the poor struggle during heavy rains are only opposing it. The opposition parties were trying to create unrest among the poor by showing it as a failed system. People should take note of this. HYDRAA is a great system that will protect Hyderabad. “My appeal to people is to protect that system,” he said. “Our strength is Hyderabad. Our brand is Hyderabad on the world stage. We resolved to strengthen the brand further. As part of it, the State government decided to organize several international events in Hyderabad. The historical city of Hyderabad hosted the 72nd Miss World pageant. Contestants from 109 countries participated in the Miss World contest. “We introduced our heritage and cultural splendour to the guests who attended the event. The Miss World contest was conducted grandly and successfully. We introduced the Telangana brand to the world once again,” Revanth Reddy said. For the first time in the country, the State government organized the World Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference in Hyderabad on September 5 and 6 last year. About 2000 noted representatives who were known worldwide in this field attended this conference. On this occasion, the state government released the AI Roadmap. “We are going to set up an AI City in Bharat Future City. Another prestigious conference – Global Rice Summit was also organised in Hyderabad. This contributed to exporting Telangana rice to other countries,” he said. The BioAsia conference was attended by 3,000 delegates from 50 countries. New innovations in the fields of healthcare and life sciences were showcased. Many internationally renowned companies were today making Hyderabad the destination for their global capability centers. “We also organized the international political conference Bharat Summit-2025 in Hyderabad. From all these platforms, we introduced the Telangana vision to the world. That is “TelanganaRising – 2047”. We are going to unveil this vision document in December,” he added. According to Revanth Reddy, law and order plays a key role in the progress of a State. Telangana is hosting many international conferences and is recognized as the most peaceful city, because of the police system. Today, the Telangana police are known as the best in the country. According to the India Justice Report – 2025, Telangana police Department is ranked first in policing among 18 States with a population of more than one crore. The ‘World Police Summit’, which was attended by 138 countries and the first rank in drug control category by Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing is praiseworthy. The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) is doing a great job in the fight against drugs, he added.
