VIJAYAWADA: RBI executive director R. Lakshmi Kanth Rao on Thursday emphasised the importance of leveraging Jana Suraksha schemes for benefiting the ordinary citizens.Addressing a mega public safety camp organised by the Union Bank of India (UBI) in collaboration with other banks, at Nunna on outskirts of the Vijayawada city on Thursday, he asked banks to encourage everyone eligible to register for various programmes through which they can benefit. State-Level Banking Committee convener C.V.N. Bhaskar Rao disclosed that special programmes are being organised in line with the government guidelines to ensure that eligible individuals across the district register for various governmental schemes. He pointed out that the Atal Pension Yojana offers a monthly pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 after the age of 60. The same pension will be provided to the nominee upon the contributor’s death. Bhaskar Rao pointed out that participating in the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana provides a death or permanent disability insurance cover of ₹2 lakh. He also raised awareness about the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and advantages of free RuPay debit cards, among others. Those who attended the meeting included RBI regional director A. Basheer, general manager (GM) R.K. Mahana from Canara Bank, SBI’s DGM Sitakshi Singh, and UBI’s deputy regional head Chandana.
