Hyderabad: Singer Rahul Sipligunj, who rose to fame with the Naatu Naatu song from the movie RRR, met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday at his residence in Jubilee Hills. The singer made a formal visit to the CM to express his gratitude for the announcement of a ₹1 crore cash award.Earlier, the State government had announced the ₹1 crore award for Rahul Sipligunj on the occasion of the Bonalu festival, in line with the promise made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.Rahul Sipligunj, a native of the Old City of Hyderabad, achieved international recognition with the Naatu Naatu song, which went on to win an Oscar in 2023.Revanth Reddy had earlier promised a reward of ₹10 lakh to the young singer when he was TPCC president and assured him of a ₹1 crore cash award if the Congress came to power.The CM reiterated this assurance during the recent Gaddar Awards presentation, stating that formal orders would soon be issued. Accordingly, the government announced the cash award, coinciding with the Bonalu festival celebrations in the Old City on Sunday (July 20, 2025).
