Hyderabad: The state government on Tuesday informed the High Court that it would issue a notification within two weeks to fill 118 assistant public prosecutor posts in the district courts. Recording this submission, the High Court adjourned the hearing to September 2.The court also directed the government’s counsel to present the notification details before the next hearing. The finance department had granted approval in June to fill the posts under the Directorate of Prosecutions, with recruitment to be conducted by the State Level Police Recruitment Board. There are 262 vacant APP posts.Highlighting the delay in issuing the recruitment notification, Boddupalli Srinivasulu of Ramanthapur filed a public interest litigation (PIL) before the High Court. A bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin heard the matter on Tuesday.Appearing for the petitioner, advocate G. Jitender Reddy argued that it had been nearly two months since the finance clearance was given, yet no notification was issued. He said that the lack of appointments was slowing down trial proceedings in lower courts and that many advocates were awaiting the recruitment process. Additional government pleader D. Surendra Kumar, representing the state, assured the court that the notification would be issued within two weeks.
