Telangana BJP Chief Labels Rahul Gandhi a “Fake Indian”

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao strongly criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for raising allegations of fake votes and vote theft and dubbed him a “fake Indian”.Welcoming BRS leader and former Achampet MLA Guvvala Balraju, who formally joined the BJP at the state party office, Ramchander Rao accused Rahul Gandhi of indulging in baseless propaganda after the Congress’s recent electoral setbacks.Ramchander Rao said the Congress never raised such complaints in states like Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana when they won elections. The state BJP chief alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s narrative of fake votes started only after the Congress’s defeats in Maharashtra and Haryana as the party feared further losses in Bihar. He further accused Rahul Gandhi of being surrounded by urban Naxals and anti-national forces and criticised him for repeatedly speaking against India, including questioning the success of Operation Sindoor.Ramchander Rao emphasised the BJP’s commitment to democracy, stating the party has never indulged in false allegations like claims of EVM faults or fake votes even when it lost in Karnataka and Telangana.Highlighting the BJP’s rising influence in Telangana, Ramchander Rao said the party is emerging as a strong alternative in the state and urged intellectuals, lawyers, farmers, women, youth, and students to join the party to help it come to power. The event marked the entry of Guvvala Balraju, a two-time MLA from Achampet in Nagarkurnool district, who left the BRS to join the BJP.The state BJP chief expressed confidence that Balraju’s joining will strengthen the BJP not only in Achampet but across Telangana. He noted the significant growth in the BJP’s vote share — from 13.9 per cent in the 2023 Assembly elections to over 36 per cent in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the party won eight Lok Sabha seats. He also pointed to the BJP’s recent victories in two MLC seats as evidence of the party’s steady progress in Telangana. The BJP chief criticised the state government’s handling of the monsoon season, saying citizens in Hyderabad face traffic problems even after light rains. He urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to focus on solving public issues instead of frequently traveling to Delhi. He also ridiculed Revanth Reddy’s slogan “Gateway of Hyderabad” and asserted that the BJP would become the “Gateway of Telangana.” He hailed the voluntary joining of leaders like Balraju as signs of the party’s impending victory. He shared that his recent tour across 16 districts covered 3,500 kilometres and involved meeting thousands of party workers and citizens, during which he received hundreds of petitions. He announced a second phase of the district tour starting August 18 to further energize BJP workers.
