Hyderabad: After days of cloudbursts, Hyderabad had some relief, with moderate to heavy thunderstorms mostly restricted to north-eastern parts of the city. Separately, the Met department put out an ‘orange alert’ indicating heavy rainfall later at night and probably on Monday morning.However, the Met forecast is for rainfall between August 14 and August 17, indicating that Independence Day and Krishna Janmashtami a day later could be wet. On Sunday, Kapra, Secunderabad, Alwal, Cantonment, Quthbullapur, Uppal, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Tarnaka and other areas along the north-eastern belt received moderate rain. Earlier in the day, Hyderabad received light to moderate rains from 3 pm to 9.30 pm. Moderate rainfall was seen during the afternoon at isolated locations in Uppal, Shamshabad, Balapur, Medipally and Rajendranagar. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), Uppal received the most rainfall within GHMC limits at 26.3 mm until 9 pm, followed by Bahadurpura with 11.5 mm and 3 mm at Habsiguda. Outside the GHMC limits, Peerzadiguda recorded 45.5 mm of rainfall, Medipally 30.5 mm in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Chevella 54.3 mm in Rangareddy district, while Shabad received 48 mm and Kothur received 31.5 mm rainfall. HYDRAA issued a medium-range forecast, where they said that although rains will slightly reduce, scattered moderate rainfall can be expected at various parts of the city between Monday and Wednesday.
